The Sprint Cup Series has Easter weekend off every year, and therefore so do I. As a result the NASCAR bubble that is my habitat takes a welcome hiatus, leaving me three or four seconds to sit on the couch with a cold beer and turn on the television. That, of course, means the Masters Tournament. |

Jeff Gordon is anxious after a recent glimpse of television pictures showed the surface at Darlington Raceway had turned gray, reminding him of the old track that ate up tires like a meat grinder before it was resurfaced in 2008.
If the abrasiveness is returning, that means the strategy of the 24 and crew chief Steve Letarte will change.

Throughout the arduous NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule, there are tracks where success at one can translate into success at another. That, however, isn't the case when it comes to Darlington Raceway with its unique shape and length. Opened in 1950, it's NASCAR's lone 1.366-mile, egg-shaped oval that has become known through the decades as the "Lady in Black" and the "track too tough to tame." It's a cantankerous track that can lull a driver into a false sense of security, then sling him into the wall.

It's also a safe bet David Pearson never saw a chalet.

You know what I'm up to the gills with? And wonder if you're sick of it too?
Paint schemes.
Kyle Busch won Saturday night at Richmond in his Combos paint scheme, not to be confused with his M&M's paint scheme, not to be confused with his Interstate paint scheme, not to be confused with his Pedigree paint scheme, not to be confused with his Snickers paint scheme.
