Will from Washington, D.C., writes: Hey Mike, I was wondering since a lot of people consider this year's class of quarterback to be not as great as others, and most have a possibility to be a bust, would it perhaps be better for the Seahawks to draft an OT in the first round, and then take Josh Freeman in the second?
As many teams found out over the past two decades, it's hard to win a championship through free agency. Teams have more cap room to keep their top free agents, so it's hard to get more than one or two starters in free agency. Typically, the teams that hit free agency the hardest are the teams that fail in the draft.
One of the standard questions in my inbox is, "What is my team going to get in the draft?"
This draft is tough to handicap because it lacks superstars at the top. Much like 2005, there is a lot of uncertainty in the top 10 -- and it's caused some interesting thinking. The Seahawks, for example, are seriously considering taking USC QB Mark Sanchez at No. 4, even though they are convinced that Matt Hasselbeck can play two or three years.
KANSAS CITY -- Matt Cassel is off to a pretty good start with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason. He's at their headquarters every weekday morning at 7:30, so he can train with the first group of players going through the team's offseason program.
We'll wait until later in the week to predict who NFC teams will draft. But it's time to make five fearless predictions on other events that will happen during the next week.
